Time To Cool Down!

Always be sure to give your generator time to cool down before you refill it! Generators are gravity fed, meaning you pour the gas down into the generator. Now if you’re dealing with gas the last thing you ever want to do is accidentally ignite it, especially when dealing with a few gallons of it. If your generator is still hot while dealing with gas, and you’re pouring that gas down into the generator, then you are at risk of spilling gas onto the hot carburetor. In doing so you are at risk of igniting that gas and that could blow up your generator and everything close to it, including you. So be sure to give your generator time to cool down. Also always to be sure to only hold up to the allowed 10 gallons of gasoline at a time. When trying to use larger gas cans you run a larger risk of spilling that gasoline on your generator, and we already know how dangerous that can be.

You want to be sure to keep your generator on level ground so that the oil system can work properly. If your generator is not on flat ground it could throw everything off and prevent the proper parts from receiving oil and if they do not get oil they run dry and your generator will not run smoothly and it will shorten its lifespan.
